Position: Point guard Coach: Ken Smith Accomplishments: Scored layup with 3.8 seconds left to give the Warriors a 75-73 victory over Hartford Public on Jan. 6. ... Averaged 16 points, eight rebounds and 7.5 assists as the starting point guard for the Class LL championship team. ... Handed out a game-high 11 assists and had eight rebounds and six points in 72-69 title-game victory over Crosby. ... Was named public school MVP of the New England Basketball Challenge (19 points, six assists). Samuels said: "As point guard, I felt it was important to take control of the tempo immediately. I wanted to look the defender in the eyes and take him to the rack, put some fear in his heart that I and we weren't backing down. We were a senior team and were driven. We came together and played our hearts out." |
